Development Manager (Junior) - Data Science BI at Discovery Limited

Key Purpose

• The Development Manager (Junior) will be responsible for overseeing all the analysis activities for various development streams within the Business Intelligence unit. The role will also include line management and personal development of the Business analysts in the team. The Development Manager (Junior) is responsible for the relationship between business and development.

Areas Of Responsibility May Include But Not Limited To

• Ensuring alignment to business requirements

• Participating in client forums (MANCO, planning/strategy sessions, reporting)
• Acting as consultant to internal and external clients

Interfacing To Other Teams Where Required

Project/Delivery Management

• Perform the role of Lead BA on projects as and when required
• Management of activities within the SDLC (Acting as process owner)
• Participating and enabling the business prioritisation process
• Manage resource allocations in conjunction with Project Managers and
• Feeding back to business and BI Team on project progress
• Own the delivery of multiple projects through the deployment of BA resources and drive urgency
• Ensure that BI solutions delivered by the team meet business needs

Capacity management

• Project budget tracking and management
• Taking ownership of production issues and driving to resolution
• Maintain and evolve BA best practices, methodology and deliverable standards
• Adherence to Quality, Standards, SLA’s and SDLC standards

Education and Experience

• A BCom degree or BSc in Information Systems or Computer Science or equivalent 3-year IT qualification
• 5 years’ experience in a Lead Business Analysis role
• Proven track record of project delivery on large projects in a collaborative environment including Business Intelligence / Management Information reporting
• Project Management experience
• Exposure to Software Development and Testing
• Experience in IT methodologies and the SDLC (Agile experience would be advantageous)
