Devops Engineer at Discovery Limited

Key Purpose

Responsible to c ollaborate with software developers, system operators and other IT staff members to manage the desired state of systems and automation of code deployments and configuration. Cross and merge the barriers that exist between software development, testing and operations teams to continuously build, test and deploy changes at speed and scale without compromising quality. Finally, the successful candidate must have the mindset of building fault tolerant and secure mechanisms into the system.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

• Build scalable, efficient cloud infrastructure solutions using infrastructure as code
• Implement automation tools and frameworks (CI/CD pipelines)
• Build, Manage and Support environments in Azure and AWS cloud
• Deploy updates and fixes via automated pipelines
• Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate with the development team to streamline code deployment.
• Evaluate existing applications and platforms, recommendation and implement alternative solutions for enhancing performance
• Design and develop strategy for zero downtime deployments with Kubernetes and Istio
• Conduct systems tests and manage security, performance, and availability
• Design, develop, and implement software integrations
• Design and aggregate key metrics that drive continuous improvement in velocity and quality.
• Develop and maintain design and troubleshooting documentation
• Design and Implement Vault solution for Secrets and Certificate management
• Manage and provision Kubernetes clusters using AWS EKS

Education
Education and Experience

• B.Sc. Degree in Computer Science or engineering equivalent qualification
• AWS Certification(beneficial)

Experience

• 3+ years’ experience as a DevOps Engineer or equivalent software-engineering role.
• Expert in Kubernetes platform implementation and management
• Experience in implementing secure pipelines with SSL and secrets rotation
• Expert in configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible, and Chef)
• Expert in provisioning infrastructure as code specifically of AWS resources using terraform which includes setup and bootstrapping required tools.
• Strong understanding of managing microservices in a Kubernetes platform.
• Working knowledge of DevOps tools mention in required skills
• Experience in implementing canary deployments in Kubernetes using service mesh
