Diesel Mechanic (Afrimat Lyttelton) at Afrimat

Duties and responsibilities

• Assist with general duties assigned by Fleet Manager
• Working knowledge of all earthmoving machinery (mobile plant, loaders, dumpers, excavators, LDVs, mobile crushing and screening machines)
• Perform first line maintenance task on all yellow fleet
• Perform first line of break down repairs on plant and equipment
• Develop, modify, construct, and install related equipment required for the safe operation of all engineering equipment
• Diagnosis, troubleshooting, fault finding and repair, and participation in HIRA
• Creative thinking
• Ordering spares
• Complete risk assessments
• Good experience in hydraulics (fault finding as well as changing cylinders)
• Working knowledge of hydraulic pumps

Minimum Qualifications /Experience

• Grade 12 – Matric (preferably technical)
• 5 years’ experience (after Trade Certification)
• Computer literate – ability to open job cards
• Basic electrical knowledge (auto electrical)
• Working knowledge of tools
• Ability to work on RSG, oil sampling as well as lubricating
• Basic welding – Advantageous
• Spray painting – Advantageous
• Supervisory skills (Team leader) – Advantageous
