    Digital & Business Improvement Specialist

    Job Description:

    Purpose

    • To provide the appropriate technology to enable Digital Transformation and Business Improvement

    Key Tasks:

    Safety:

    • Attend all relevant Safety training
    • Ensure compliance and receive approval for all work-related business trips

    Performance & Delivery:

    • Enable the Business strategy for Digital Transformation and Business Improvement in conjunction with the Business Stakeholders by:
    • Understanding the overall IM strategy and the implications this may have for Digital Transformation, Business Improvement and communicate this to key stakeholders through ongoing engagement
    • Educating the business on the specific and high-risk legislation pertaining to these functional areas
    • Educating the IM organization on the direction of the business and aligning the IM strategy to the business direction
    • Partner with senior management to identify and prioritize opportunities for utilizing IM to achieve business goals
    • Ensuring that decisions and direction are aligned with the security policies and rules dictated by Anglo American PLC
    • Compile a 3 year+ Functional IM roadmap for Digital Transformation, Business Improvement initiatives through effective engagement with key stakeholders and alignment between Group T&S and Business Units

    Define and own the delivery of the Project Portfolio by:

    • Compile relevant project horizon (±3 years) with appropriate business support and be able to present the projects at the investment committees to secure capital
    • Producing a business case in conjunction with stakeholders
    • Establishing the total cost of the project
    • Taking the project through the governance specific to the Business Unit as well as the IM PMO
    • Delivering systems to meet the business requirements resulting from changes in process, optimization of existing systems or changes in technology and strategy
    • Assisting in the business process redesign
    • Translating high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IM organization and manages changes to such specifications. Demonstrate commercial awareness
    • Oversee the development of  project plans and teamwork assignments, direct and monitor work efforts on a daily basis, identify resource needs, perform quality review; and escalate functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately
    • Analyze business partner’s operation to determine opportunities to streamline or digitize processes
    • Provide effective stakeholder feedback through agreed forums and escalation management
    • Ensure effective reporting of all highlights, cost savings, challenges and focus areas

    Drive Integration and collaboration with appropriate functions and stakeholders by:

    • Understanding the portfolio of other departments such as Data Analytics to ensure no duplication of effort and the re-application of best practice
    • Ensure effective alignment between EMEA/APAC Regional IM Hub and LATAM Regional Hub teams on Digital Transformation, Business Improvement initiatives
    • Understanding of technological trends and using this knowledge to bring solutions to business units to support and enhance the enterprise’s competitive edge
    • Drive the reduction in complexity in the current Digital Transformation, Business Improvement environments in conjunction with the Enterprise and OT Applications and Governance teams
    • Enforce the governance model by attending and arranging the required forums
    • Ensure the delivery of new services and systems are sustainable by executing service introduction processes in conjunction with the applications team
    • Manage alignment between stakeholders regarding technology selection
    • Driving Business Relationship Management and expectation management by means of regular engagement

    Manage Governance by:

    • Ensure effective Mining Technical Systems license management to remain compliant
    • Following relevant forecasting processes for annual Mining Technical Systems License renewals
    • Participate in the annual budget process to include all relevant budget items for effective delivery
    • Compiling a fit for purpose blueprint and architecture for Digital Transformation, Business Improvement systems.
    • Managing third party vendors and ensuring they are meeting or exceeding their contractual commitments for services and projects

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Commerce with Informatics
    • Desirable: It would be advantageous to have a postgraduate qualification in the relevant IM discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity. Bachelor of Mining Engineering or other applicable degree

    Technical Knowledge:

    • The specific IM field, controls and risk mitigation

    • Systems analysis
    • Business Analysis
    • Project/Programme Management
    • Legislation specific to function

    Safety Knowledge:

    • Provides a consistent outstanding role model in relation to safety practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety
