    Junior Confined Label Technologist - Westville

    Minimum Requirements

    • National Diploma in Food Technology/Analytical Chemistry
    • National Diploma in Packaging Technology (advantageous)
    • 3 –5 years’ experience in the food manufacturing industry
    • Good understanding and interpretation of Food Legislation and Standards
    • 12 months’ experience in a similar role (advantageous)
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manage timelines with different parties on the development of new confined labels
    • Communicate directly with Suppliers on products being developed
    • Compile technical information per project for product labels
    • Review technical documents on confined label development and supplier records, ensuring the detail meets Boxer requirements.
    • Document review:
    • Confined Label Final Product & Packaging Specification
    • Technical Product Compliance/Validation records, such as Microbiological testing and shelf life testing, etc.
    • Product and Supplier specific legislation compliance such as a copy of their:
    • Food Safety or Product Quality Certification
    • Legal Compliance Certificates.
    • Religious certification
    • Must have a good understanding of South African legislation and regulations listed below, but not limited to:
    • 638 COA as per Supplier Agreement.
    • Draft Reg. 3337
    • 146 Compliance review.
    • Food Safety requirements : FSSC 22000 current version / BRCGS current version/ GFSI Intermediate current version
    • FSA requirements
    • Create and present mock up packaging for approval
    • Review information on product labels for approval at all stages of the project
    • Assist in raising non-conformances and reviewing corrective actions from suppliers
    • Assist in conducting and reviewing risk assessments
    • Assisting in closing off audit findings
    • Assisting in running analytical reports supporting confined labels
    • Assist with evaluation of labels on current base products

    ESG/ Sustainability Manager - Westville

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualifications, Competencies & Skills:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental science, sustainability, business administration, or related field
    • 3+ years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate responsibility roles, preferably in the retail industry
    • Strong understanding of ESG principles and best practices, including sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI and SASB
    • Experience developing and implementing ESG and sustainability strategies and initiatives
    • Excellent project management and cross-functional collaboration skills
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Further develop and execute Boxer ESG strategy, in alignment with the company's overall mission and goals
    • Develop and monitor ESG and sustainability metrics, report on progress, and make recommendations for improvement
    • Ensure that Boxer is aligned with JSE requirements on ESG and its relevant Disclosures
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that ESG and sustainability initiatives are integrated into business operations, including procurement, supply chain, marketing, and corporate social responsibility
    • Lead the development of sustainability policies and procedures, including the creation of a sustainability framework for the company
    • Conduct environmental and social impact assessments of Boxer’s operations and supply chain, and make recommendations for improvement
    • Work with external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, NGOs, and government agencies, to identify and address ESG and sustainability risks and opportunities
    • Incorporate ESD support programme within the ESG and Sustainability portfolio
    • Support and provide guidance to the internal departments on monitoring, tracking and reporting on ESG and sustainability initiatives
    • Keep up to date with global trends and best practices in ESG and sustainability, and make recommendations for incorporating new ideas and innovations into Pick n Pay's strategy
    • In consultation with the Group Executive, act as a spokesperson for Boxer’s ESG and sustainability initiatives, both internally and externally, including through media interviews, public speaking engagements, and industry events when required
    • Ensure that Boxer remains compliant all related Government prescripts and legislation as Amended
    • Responsible for reporting on Boxer’s ESG targets and sustainability initiatives at various internal and external structures.

    Finance Controller - East London DC and Cape Town DC

    Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA or CMA preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance controller or similar role.
    • Proficiency in SAP Finance.
    • Strong understanding and management of financial risk and compliance.
    • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and macros.
    • Demonstrated financial analysis problem-solving skills.

    • Forecast against budget targets on a weekly basis, incorporating various factors and adjusting strategies as needed.
    • Lead staff management initiatives, providing guidance and support to the finance team.
    • Manage consumable expenses, optimizing costs while maintaining quality and efficiency.
