    Director Data Protection and Compliance Programs

    Job Description
    Th role entails the following:

    • Build close working relationships with country IT organisation to ensure that each country's IT needs and issues are understood.
    • Provide regular and timely reports to senior business stakeholders concerning data protection, as well as compliance to IT infrastructure and service management standards across the Region.
    • Ensures regional adherence to the organisation's Data Protection / Privacy requirements.
    • Build and execute a data protection roadmap in a practical manner that enables the business to achieve compliance with data protection regulations
    • Prepare for and Respond to Audits
    • Implement Data Protection Processes & Tools
    • Manage escalations within the Region and taking the lead to bring these up to the Global organisation and Corporate Data Protection.
    • Ensure information Security management standards and best practices are implemented and adhered to across the SSA Countries, via regular KPI reporting and follow-ups.
    • Coordinate with country external legal Councils and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with local Data Protection Regulatory requirements
    • Monitor overall progress and initiate corrective action

    The Successful Applicant
    The suitable candidate should possess the following:

    • Experience working outside of South Africa and has been exposed to other countries
    • Legal qualification (Legal degree or Master's in law )
    • Expertise is Data Privacy Laws
    • Detailed understand of Violations laws/procedures in various countries
    • Solid understanding of Data Procedures /Customer information protection Laws in various countries
    • Understand the laws around employee Data protection
    • Be seasoned in presenting reports/giving advice to CEOs and forums etc
    • Good relationship building skills
    • Good people management skills
