    Director: Sports and Pools

    Qualifications and experience required:

    • A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably a B degree relevant to Facilities/Sports Management/Horticulture.
    • Computer literacy: MS Office.
    • Must have a minimum of eight years or more relevant experience at management.

    Key attributes and competencies:

    • Researches and develops strategic and short-term plans for the Sports and Pools functionality.
    • Maintains project records (working papers, audit trails, evidence of sign-offs by senior managers).
    • Ensures that high-priority work is accomplished within required timelines.
    • Ensures that all outsourced maintenance management activities are aligned with the maintenance management plan.
    • Develops specifications for outsourced maintenance work, partake in procuring of service providers, verifies and sign-off of work and completes job cards for payment of service providers.
    • Develops maintenance plans specifying detailed activities, resources, responsibilities, timescales and risks for the attainment of facility management objectives.
    • Monitors implementation processes and measures to assess performance and health of facility components.
    • Directs and controls the Key Performance Indicators and outcomes of personnel within the section.
    • Manages and controls organisation change and development through the formulation of specific policies and procedures and forwards/presents to the Executive Director.
    • Implements communication strategies aimed at creating awareness and/or seeking acknowledgement by communicating with Executive Director pertaining to queries associated with the section’s budget expenditure.
    • Manages the scope and procedural administrative requirements and reporting deadlines.
    • Administration and record-keeping skills.

    Job purpose

    • Responsible for management and short/medium/long-term planning of maintenance operations, scheduling of work and resource planning, maintenance of facility records, and compiling and monitoring of operational and capital budgets of respective facilities.
    • As part of the selection process, candidates may be tested on any requirement, skill or competency, which will include pre-employment screening, medical examination, security vetting and psychometric assessment.
