Electrical Technician at RCL Foods

Job Description    
RCL FOODS is seeking an Electrical Technician to join our Milling Division. The role will be based in Pretoria West and report to the Maintenance Manager. RCL FOODS is looking for an incumbent to be responsible for the implementation of new electrical machinery and equipment, upgrade electrical machinery and equipment on a software and hardware level. Perform maintenance of all electrical machinery, equipment, processes and software applications according to SANS codes for a hazardous site on a higher level than electricians. Give a higher level of support to electrical staff and solve higher-level problems.
Minimum Requirements    

• Trade test certificate as Electrician
• Have a university degree qualification in Electrical / Electronics
• Valid Code EB drivers’ licence
• Minimum 2 years experience with respect to the electrical or electronic environment or electrical/electronic experience in the milling industry.
• Minimum 2 years Siemens PLC S7/ TIA portal experience
• Minimum 2 years Wonderware system platform SCADA and Siemens SCADA experience.

Duties & Responsibilities    
Maintenance

• To ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance of all mechanical equipment.
• To be proactive in identifying potential faults/breakdowns before they occur.
• To ensure that all breakdowns are attended to in a cost-effective manner.
• To ensure the continued good condition of all equipment.
• To ensure and prevent come back or repeated failures and breakdowns.
• To implement preventative actions and maintenance to reduce breakdowns.

Standby Duty

• To be willing to do standby duties.
• To ensure that all call outs are answered promptly and effectively.
• To ensure that breakdowns are solved in a timeous fashion.

Overtime

• To be willing to perform work outside of normal working hours.

Safety / Housekeeping

• To practice and enforce RCL Foods Milling codes of safety and housekeeping.
• To ensure occupational health and safety electrical installation regulations and electrical machinery acts are adhered to.
• To ensure that SANS 10142 wiring regulations are adhered to.
• To ensure that SANS 10108 hazardous location regulations are adhered to.
• To ensure compliance to the work permit/lockout system in use at RCL Foods Milling.

Admin

• To ensure that all information submitted on work orders is complete and correct.
• To ensure that all completed work orders/documentation is submitted to the foreman for checking.

Working for customers

• To respond quickly to work requests/defects.
• To ensure a courteous and friendly disposition to all personnel at RCL Foods Milling.
• To ensure that all promises/commitments made are kept.

E.O.P. program

• To ensure the training of staff in new technologies and methods used in the plant

General

• To ensure no comeback jobs.
• To ensure that proper fault finding procedures are correctly followed.
• To ensure proper time management.
• To ensure no unnecessary fines for maximum demand from C.C.P
• To inspect all new electrical installations as per the electrical maintenance manager’s instructions.
• To ensure that a 95% Plant availability is kept.

General Maintenance

• To ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance of all electrical equipment.

• To ensure that all breakdowns are attended to in a cost-effective manner.
• To ensure the continued good condition of all equipment.

Instruments

• To ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance of all instruments equipment.
• To be proactive in identifying potential faults/breakdowns before they occur.
• To ensure that all breakdowns are attended to in a cost-effective manner.
• To ensure the continued good condition of all equipment.
• To ensure that the necessary spare instruments are maintained in the maintenance store.

Computers

• To ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance of all computer equipment.
• To be proactive in identifying potential faults/breakdowns before they occur.
• To ensure that all breakdowns are attended to in a cost-effective manner.
• To ensure the continued good condition of all equipment.
• To ensure that the necessary spares are maintained in the maintenance store.
• To update all software.

Networks

• To ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance of all network equipment.
• To be proactive in identifying potential faults/breakdowns before they occur.
• To ensure that all breakdowns are attended to in a cost-effective manner.
• To ensure the continued good condition of all equipment.
• To ensure that the necessary spares are maintained in the maintenance store.

PLC and SCADA

• To ensure efficient and cost-effective maintenance to all soft PLC hardware.
• To ensure that all PLC and SCADA applications are backed up and up to date.
• Must program PLCs and SCADA
• To be proactive in identifying potential faults/breakdowns before they occur.
• To ensure that all breakdowns are attended to in a cost-effective manner.
• To ensure the continued good condition of all equipment.
• To ensure that the necessary spare instruments are monitors in the main store.

Training

• To ensure that the training equipment is maintained.
• To ensure that the training equipment always represents the existing installation requirements.

Projects

• To ensure that all new projects are implemented and completed to the requirements of the electrical maintenance manager.
• Implement projects in the shortest period without financial loss to the company.
• Ensure successful implementation of projects.
• Ensure correct devices, machinery and software applications are installed for the correct processes.
