    Engineering Workshop Foreman

    Job Purpose:

    • To oversee and manage daily workshop operations, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and adherence to safety standards. The Foreman will lead a team of artisans and machinists while maintaining optimal performance of CNC and conventional machining processes.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Red Seal qualification in Fitting & Turning or Toolmaking
    • Strong experience in CNC machining, including Fanuc CNC programming
    • Proven supervisory or management experience in an engineering/workshop environment
    • Solid understanding of machining processes, tolerances, and quality control
    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and coordinate daily workshop activities and staff
    • Plan and allocate jobs to ensure deadlines and production targets are met
    • Program, set, and optimize CNC machines (Fanuc controls)
    • Ensure quality standards and specifications are consistently achieved
    • Monitor machine performance and coordinate maintenance requirements
    • Enforce health and safety compliance within the workshop
    • Train, mentor, and develop workshop staff and apprentices
    • Manage tooling, materials, and workflow efficiency

    • Strong leadership and team management ability
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • High attention to detail and quality focus
    • Good communication and organizational skills
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

    Guidance / Ideal Candidate Profile:

    • Hands-on leader who leads by example on the workshop floor
    • Technically strong with both CNC and conventional machining
    • Experience working in a high-production or precision engineering environment
    • Able to balance production targets with quality and safety requirements
    • Comfortable interacting with engineers, management, and shopfloor staff
