Job Description

• Our client, a leader in the citrus industry and a vertically integrated producer, packer and exporter located in the Citrusdal valley, has an opportunity for an Entomologist to join our Production team.
• The primary objective of this position is to provide technical leadership in integrated pest management for commercial citrus production by developing crop protection strategies, supporting operational decision making, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to optimise production outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement season-long pest management strategies aligned with production, export, and sustainability objectives
• Provide specialist technical support and recommendations to farm/production managers, production teams, and senior management
• Optimise spray application practices and support application technology improvements
• Analyse monitoring, efficacy, and operational data to identify trends and support strategic decisions
• Ensure compliance with crop protection regulations and export market requirements
• Collaborate with production, engineering, procurement, researchers, consultants, and suppliers on crop protection initiatives
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement through research, innovation, and technology adoption
• Develop best-practice application guidelines for various production scenarios

Qualification and Experience:

• Degree in Entomology, Agricultural Science, Plant Protection, or related field will be advantageous
• Experience in commercial agriculture, preferably citrus production
• Experience in crop protection strategy and technical advisory
• Knowledge of pesticide regulations, residue management, and export market requirements would be advantageous
