Environmental Health Assistant at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• Grade 12 (Senior Certificate)
• One (1) to two (2) years’ experience
• Peace Officer qualification
• Registration as an Environmental Health Assistant with the HPCSA
• At least two years completed in a formal qualification in Environmental Health
• A valid Code EB driver’s licence.

Key Performance Areas

• Responsible for pest and vector control
• Identify and report environmental health factors like overgrown canals or water streams causing stagnation of water and mosquito breeding
• Assist nursing staff with regard to special campaigns e.g. polio and measles on request
• Perform law enforcement duties to ensure compliance with relevant environmental health legislation
• Provide training and health education to communities, students and other departments
• Perform administrative duties, including report writing to ensure sound administrative procedures for effective service delivery.
