    Executive Head: Mass Market

    Job Purpose

    • The Executive Head: Mass Market has overall responsibility for strategy, leadership, and management of the Hollard Life Solutions mass market business, including accountability for: P & L, growth and profitability. This role has responsibility for delivering on Hollard Solutions’ initiatives to deliver shared value into both the mass and the underserved markets. The role is responsible for managing tied agency (Advisor) relationships, all independent distributions channels, owned networks, and any other forms of partnerships in this channel. 

    Key Responsibilities

    • Set strategic business objectives and financial goals and create an environment to ensure achievement of annual financial targets
    • Develop, drive and execute on business strategy
    • Ensure an appropriate Distribution Strategy for the portfolio, leveraging deep understanding of the market and ensuring the proposition matches the need
    • Work closely with product team in order to remain relevant and drive growth
    • Oversee the effective and timeous identification of the channel’s needs and resolution to challenges, including collection strategies to optimize the channel performance
    • Grow new business by having the thought leadership to identify strategic alliances and opportunities for new advisors, products and channels
    • Manage risk within the advisor business whilst ensuring that targets are maintained
    • Understand legislation and its application of products to ensure compliance with legal & regulatory requirements
    • Work with support functions to help drive efficiency and grow our digital aspirations in the business
    • Become the face of the business.

    Required Knowledge and Experience    
    Required Experience 

    • 8-10 years related experience in Life assurance and distribution
    • 7-8 years senior management experience, with previous executive experience highly advantageous
    • Experience in managing a business, with in depth understanding of life insurance business
    • Leading a diverse team and enabling them to deliver on strategic initiatives
    • Managing an Advisor division within financial services preferably in insurance
    • Familiarity with the relevant legislation (FAIS, RDR, FIC etc.)
    • Driving business delivery through external stakeholders
    • Good stakeholder management
    • In depth understanding of the workings of the Life Insurance landscape and how to win in this space Strong analytical skills
    • In-depth insurance knowledge
    • General business acumen
    • Market and competitor knowledge
    • Financial understanding
    • Strategic thinking skill and an innovative mindset
    • Strong drive and delivery orientation

    Educational Requirements    
    Required Qualifications 

    • 4 year commercial degree (E.g. Bcom, Business Science, Engineering, Actuary) minimum
    • Post Grad qualified, with MBA advantageous 
    • RE Exams will be advantageous
