We are seeking a dedicated and hands-on Farm Assistant Manager to support daily operations on a hydroponic farm. This role is ideal for a practical, physically fit individual with strong leadership ability and a passion for agriculture.
Requirements
Diploma in Agriculture (preferred)
Matric with good basic maths skills (essential)
Valid driver’s licence (essential)
Ability to supervise staff and lead by example
Physically fit and able to work in hot conditions
Practical, proactive, and solutions-driven
Willing to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, including weekend irrigation duties
Key Responsibilities
Work with plants in a hydroponic environment
Supervise and coordinate labour activities alongside the Head Grower
Ensure consistent quality of work from the labour team
Oversee crop work and general farm operations
Monitor and report on labour performance vs budget weekly
Manage timekeeping and handle basic disciplinary matters
Assist with problem-solving and operational challenges
Ensure equipment is functioning effectively and report maintenance needs
Maintain a neat, efficient, and productive farm environment
Follow and communicate instructions clearly (verbal and written)
Perform duties independently, with good judgement and adaptability
