    Finance Manager - Springbok

    Minimum Requirements    

    ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • B Com – Accounting, Financial Management or similar degree in cost management.
    • CA (SA) or CIMA will be beneficial.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in a Supervisory level financial role, preferably gained within the opencast mining industry.
    • Comprehensive experience and high level of capability in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, specifically Advanced Microsoft Excel).

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    Asset Management

    • Manage the control environment of stock and report on stock levels and control failures to the responsible parties.
    • Continuously monitor stock levels to ensure that they are optimal for business continuity and working capital management.
    • Ensure that the stores are staffed by competently skilled resources.

    Cost Management

    • Act as a cheque signatory (if applicable) for and authorize expenditure up to predetermined limits.
    • Evaluate data pertaining to costs in order to plan budgets and forecasts.
    • Oversee the procurement process and interface with centralised procurement.
    • Ensure execution of plant repair/maintenance projects is within the allowable and flag overruns timeously.
    • Ensure that costs are constantly scrutinised, optimised and communicated to relevant people.

    Financial Reporting and Financial Management

    • Ensure all financial reporting obligations are met within the communicated deadlines.
    • Ensure that all information requested by internal and external auditors are supplied within the communicated deadlines.
    • Ensure that appropriate financial regulations and controls are in place and that all control deficiencies are reported immediately.
    • Prepare the Support Office financial plans, financial budgets and forecasts and periodic updates including component expenditure and / or plant rebuilds.
    • Evaluate financial reporting systems, accounting procedures and make recommendations for changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets, and other financial control functions.
    • Prepare financial and other ad-hoc reports for OPCO and EXCO.
    • Prepare operational and risk reports for management analysis.
    • Assist Johannesburg Support Office creditors department in ensuring supplier account are up-to-date.
    • Responsible for the monitoring of cash flow and prediction of financial trends.

    People Management

    • Advise and administer the proper allocation of correctly skilled resources.
    • Assist with the development and improvement of all SOP’s relating to finance.
    • Training of personnel involved in financial activities, including stores, receipting and issuing.

    Operations Management

    • Be a business partner to the GM / Executive Operations.
    • Drive the reduction in open orders by ensuring timely receipting and issuing of items as well as monitoring long outstanding open orders on site.

    Risk Management

    • Plan, direct, and co-ordinate risk and implement controls to lower to control risks and losses.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Oversee a good relationship with Business Partners (including Suppliers and Internal Clients).

    Knowledge Skills & Abilities    

    • Excellent knowledge: Sage accounting software
    • Change Management
    • Financial reporting, budgeting, cost accounting and stock control
    • Must have excellent knowledge of stock control, stores management and earthmoving equipment fleet cost management
