    Financial Administrator

    About the Job

    Job Purpose

    • To provide financial administrative support to ensure that CPGS delivers efficient service and effective support to students

    Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • National Diploma in Accounting or any Finance related qualification.
    • At least 3 years recent and relevant experience in a similar role within a financial environment
    • Experience of having worked on a financial system.
    • Proven computer literacy in the use of MS Excel, with demonstrated proficiency at an intermediate level.

    Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

    Financial administration and management

    • Administration of all claims, invoices, accounts and expenditure
    • Approval of requisitions
    • Liaise with the Administrator regarding payment of bursaries
    • Payment of bursaries to students
    • Payment of departmental expenses
    • Ensure compliance with regulations concerning financial issues

    Records and data management

    • Keep all financial records up to date
    • Provide information on student accounts, bursary accounts
    • Report regularly to the Director

    Bursary funds administration

    • Claims for external bursary funds
    • Monitoring expenditure of external funds
    • Financial reporting to external funders
    • Financial reporting to internal admin

    Office administration

    • Receive and process student queries relating to finance
    • Ensure timeous payment of accounts and bursaries

    Office operations

    • Assist with office operations including ordering of equipment and routine requirements
    • Communication with related departments

    Support to Director

    • Liaise with Director and support staff in meeting the Centre’s objectives
    • Manage Director’s research cost centre
    • Approval of research expenditure on Director’s cost centre

    Competencies

    • Financial management skills
    • Knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting practices
    • Planning and organising skills
    • Computer literacy including financial software packages
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
    • Flexiblity in dealing with varied tasks
