    Financial Treasury and Accounts Specialist

    PURPOSE

    The purpose of the role is to analyze Treasury activities and determine the financial implications of all transactions by aligning the economic intent with tax considerations, capital requirements and technical accounting requirements.
    The role is responsible for facilitating and enhancing the decision-making, transaction execution and monitoring processes of Group Treasury.

    • Department Employees

    Your key responsibilities include:

    • Month End and Year end processing and reporting
    • Financial Management 
    • Ensure team goals are aligned to BU strategy, documented, clearly understood, and regularly reviewed.
    • Identify and scope opportunities for improvement innovation. 
    • Deploy client or company specific projects in line with company standards and in agreement with line manager.
    • Process and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded. 
    • Process, manage and reconcile all balance sheet accounts to ensure efficient and accurate information is available for reporting and is in accordance with legal and company accounting guidelines. 
    • Determine accounting errors or discrepancies and suggest necessary corrective action.
    • Approval of accounting transactions and reconciliations
    • Balance and agree loan accounts.
    • Reconcile VAT to be calculated and submitted on time.
    • Balance and agree on loan accounts.
    • Prepare monthly cash flow. 
    • Process month and year-end process, accounts payable/receivable, cash books, general ledger, treasury, revenue and expenditure, and capital assets reconciliation.  
    • Assist in the preparation of reports. 
    • Process and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded 
    • Process, manage and reconcile all balance sheet accounts to ensure efficient and accurate information is available for reporting and is in accordance with legal and company accounting guidelines. 
    • Ensure all account reconciliations and supporting sub-ledgers align
    • Determine accounting errors or discrepancies and suggest necessary corrective action.
    • Review month and year-end process, accounts payable/receivable, cash books, general ledger, treasury, revenue and expenditure, and capital assets reconciliation.  
    • Month-end closing activities
    • Preparation of notes and disclosure of the necessary documentation for internal and external financial audits

    Supplier Management   

    • Monitoring the financial markets and analyzing economic factors to determine how they affect investments and manage risk through hedging when required 
    • Reviewing financial statements to ensure that they comply with accounting standards
    • Identifying potential fraud or malfeasance in financial transactions
    • Recommending changes in interest rates based on economic factors such as inflation rates, employment levels, and production
    • Reviewing banking regulations to ensure that financial institutions are complying with the law
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all matters related to cash management, investments, and debt financing
    • Oversee daily cash operations, including forecasting, wire transfers, ACH payments, and check processing
    • Invest idle cash in short-term investment vehicles to maximize returns while minimizing risk
    • Monitor compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as applicable laws and regulations
    • Prepare monthly reports detailing cash position, investment activity, and debt service coverage
    • Negotiate loan terms with commercial banks and other financial institutions
    • Manage relationships with external banking partners, ensuring optimal service levels and pricing
    • Coordinate with accounting department to ensure timely and accurate recording of transactions
    • Develop forecast treasury needs and demands for the businesses 
    • Manage financial instruments including but not limited to FEC, Swaps, etc 
    • IFRS Reporting of financial instruments

    • Policies and procedures: Develop, amend and implement relevant policies and procedures
    • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant policies & procedures, regulations and legislation
    • Risk: Ensure risks are reported on and mitigated
    • People Development

    • People Processes: Manage employees through the employee lifecycle including, recruit, manage performance and reward 
    • People Development: Build a high-performance team through regular individual and team engagement sessions. Identify talent, coach, and develop to ensure talent retention

    QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE

    • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or Economics 
    • Post Graduate degree or similar advanced financial risk-oriented qualification in Finance, Accounting or Economics preferred.
    • Required computer literacy levels.
    • Accpac /ERP
    • Excel and PowerPoint
    • Financial Market tools e.g.: Bloomberg 
    • Reporting tools 

    EXPERIENCE

    • 5 years of relevant experience
    • Practical experience gained in a financial risk consulting or treasury environment strongly preferred. 
    • Understanding of international treasury and banking concepts 
    • Experience with treasury / banking requirements for an ERP system
    • Experience working with Finance teams 
    • Must be comfortable engaging with banks and communicating internally at all levels 
    • Ability to anticipate issues before they arise and provide solutions
