The successful candidate will be part of the Flavors Europe Technical team creating unique ingredients for the food industry. The preferred candidate will be self-motivated, a natural leader, questioning, and pay attention to detail. They will enjoy the challenge of working in a multi-discipline, cross-site, Technical team. They will take the lead to efficiently and successfully complete projects starting with creative development on the bench through to pilot plant application trials and finally into the manufacturing environment working closely with Sales, Applications and Supply Chain colleagues.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Creating new innovative flavor concepts which meet the customer expectations in terms of quality, application and price
• Responsible for the evaluation and validation of flavor concepts in specific applications, working closely with the Applications Team
• Working efficiently in cross-functional, multi-site technical project teams, the successful candidate will have the flair and desire to use and develop their scientific & technology skills to create world class solutions
• Responsible for creating commercially feasible flavors, adhering to formula guidelines, regulations and scale-up procedures
• Use their knowledge of raw materials and recipes to rapidly and efficiently duplicate competitor products in accordance with project parameters and customer requirements
• To apply sensory & analytical understanding and techniques into product evaluations interpreting the results and feeding them back to the project team with recommendations for next steps
• To undertake raw material & product stability trials, using a range of analytical methodologies and report the results back to the Technical team
• To support the Operations team when there are quality issues with the raw materials, processing or finished products
• To contribute to the local, regional and global product libraries ensuring information is accurate, up-to-date and readily available.
   

Skills & Abilities

• Good people and communication skills, with written and oral English a must
• Ability to work within short time-frames
• Capability to stay focused under pressure and translate results directly into new products which meet our customer’s requirements
   

Education & Experience

• A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry or Food Science/Technology
• Flavor creation experience in the food industry
