Grade 12 / NQF level 4 Certificate plus National Diploma (NQF level 6) in Food Service or Hospitality Management.
A minimum of 3 years’ appropriate experience in a Food Services and/or Hospitality environment or as a supervisor in a food Service department.
The successful candidate may be required to work weekends and holidays.
Computer Skills (Ms. Word, PowerPoint, Excel), conversant with the Labour Relations Act, Food Services Policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Good verbal and written communication skills, Good interpersonal skills, and excellent report writing skills.
Duties :
Direct supervision of food service department staff. The planning of all menus for all diets, ordering of supplies, control of the storage and issuing of stock.
Planning of the food budget and control of the food expenditure by means of cost-effective measures and the implementation of prescribed procedures. In-service training of food service staff performance management and development systems for staff.
Implementation of Legislative Framework (Acts and regulations) in relation to food service, stock control, monitoring and managing food service activities.
To liaise with the hospital dietician on nutrition. Provide Leadership to food service aid supervisors. Ensure cleanliness in the food area, and ensure effective measures are implemented. Contract employees on PMDS and conduct mid-year reviews and annual assessment.
Develop Standard Operational Plan and Implement Labour Relations Policy. Perform all the administrative functions required, give feedback and monthly reports to the Clinical Manager.
Manage human resources, compile induction programme and be involved in the implementation process. Assist with ongoing staff development and facilitate student training.
Implement quality assurance processes and evaluate compliance to the Ideal Hospital Framework. Engage in meetings with other disciplines and ensure that they are informed about Food Service practices.
Actively take part in hospital activities and committees. Ensure compliance with the Ideal Hospital Framework, Batho Pele principles, and patient rights and Infection Prevention and Control. Contribute to managing complaints and patient safety incidents.
