    Global Electronic Certification Safety Engineer

    Mission    

    • To lead the charge in safeguarding lives and enhancing safety within the global mining industry by developing and implementing cutting-edge Collision Avoidance Systems.

    The role    

    • Safety Assessment: Conduct comprehensive safety assessments and risk analyses for Mernok's Mining Collision Avoidance Systems to identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities in various mining environments .
    • Safety Design: Work closely with product development teams to incorporate safety features and requirements into the design and development phases of collision avoidance systems.
    • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that collision avoidance systems comply with relevant safety standards, regulations, and guidelines in the mining industry across different regions.  
    • Safety Testing: Plan and oversee safety testing and validation procedures, including functional safety assessments, field trials, and certification processes.
    • Incident Management: Develop and implement incident response plans for collision-related safety incidents, including conducting thorough investigations, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
    • Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to mining personnel on the safe use and operation of collision avoidance systems .
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date safety documentation, including safety reports, compliance records, and incident reports.
    • Continuous Improvement: Continuously monitor and analyze safety performance data to identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in collision avoidance systems.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, production, and customer support teams to ensure that safety considerations are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
    • Participate in customer risk assessments as needed. Also needs to organize functional safety assessments and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis's
    • Work directly with different testing and regulatory bodies to achieve the required result. Keeping up to date on current regulations and up and coming new ones. Participation in standard bodies development of new regulations related to CAS.
    • Work in close collaboration with Epiroc Customers Centers and legal entities around the world who are local/regional and up to date on regulations.

    Competences, skills and experience    

    • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Proven experience in safety engineering, particularly in the mining industry or similar heavy industrial settings.
    • Familiarity with safety standards and regulations relevant to mining equipment and collision avoidance systems.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
    • Certification in safety engineering or related fields is a plus.
