Coordinate and review the calculation, completion, and submission of all tax returns for group subsidiaries, including income tax, VAT, employee taxes, withholding tax, and other applicable taxes across various jurisdictions.
Support the accurate preparation of group company financial statements by ensuring current and deferred tax calculations, reconciliations, and disclosures are correctly reflected.
Assist with the implementation and documentation of transfer pricing policies throughout the group to ensure compliance with local regulations.
Participate in reviewing proposed business and commercial transactions to provide management with clear advice on potential tax consequences.
Advise on the tax implications of business restructurings and reorganisations to optimise group tax positions while mitigating risks.
Evaluate queries from tax authorities and collaborate on developing effective strategies to defend group tax positions successfully.
Assist in overseeing and managing relationships with external tax consultants to ensure high-quality service delivery on all tax-related matters.
Contribute to ad hoc projects or provide additional support as required by the Group Tax Manager or CFO, adapting quickly to changing priorities within the finance function.
Work closely with internal stakeholders across different geographies to communicate complex tax issues clearly and collaboratively resolve challenges.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving tax legislation across multiple African markets to proactively identify risks and opportunities for the group.
What you bring:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is required
Chartered Accountant certification is preferred for this position
At least six years’ relevant experience in taxation gained within either a Big Four accounting firm or a multinational corporation with extensive exposure to tax compliance, reporting, planning, and audits.
Proven experience working across multiple tax jurisdictions is highly desirable for navigating complex regulatory environments.
Familiarity with all major types of taxation including corporate tax, international tax, transfer pricing, VAT, withholding taxes, and employment taxes is essential.
Experience within the fintech or payments industry would be advantageous given the nature of operations involved.
Demonstrated organisational skills combined with strong time management abilities enable you to handle multiple priorities efficiently under limited supervision.
Excellent analytical skills paired with sound problem-solving capabilities allow you to interpret complex data sets accurately for informed decision-making.
Outstanding interpersonal communication skills facilitate effective engagement with both internal stakeholders at all levels and external consultants based in diverse locations.
A track record of implementing new procedures or processes that enhance finance control environments reflects your commitment to continuous improvement.
High attention to detail ensures accuracy in all aspects of your work while proficiency in MS Office Suite supports efficient task execution.
