    Head: Career Development Consulting

    Career Development services are provided to all Faculties with awareness of issues of common and distinct concern across all professions in private, public and non-profit sectors.

    Key performance areas are: Strategic planning, Team leadership and Innovation, Partnership building, Educational Content Creation, Information management, Stakeholder engagement and Income generation.

    Requirements for the job

    • NQF 7 in Higher Education Development, Industrial Psychology or equivalent
    • At least 8 years’ experience in a senior Career Development role including 5 years line managing a team of
    • 3 or more people in the SA Higher Education sector
    • Demonstrated ability to conceptualise and project manage the delivery of a range of Career Development
    • services, Career education information and learning materials for hybrid student engagement at scale
    • The capacity to think strategically, build relationships and build networks, strong organizing skills, selfmanagement and strong project planning skills
    • Familiarity with Business communication, customer relationship and learning management tools and
    • systems
    • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure
    • Excellent written and spoken communication skills for physical and virtual platforms and diverse audiences
    • Knowledge of global Career Development practice, contemporary World of Work and Labour market trends
    • Experience of collaborating with a range of stakeholders and building relationships at a strategic level

    The following will be advantageous:

    • NQF 8 or above, in topics directly relating to Career Development Consulting practice
    • Proven ability to develop robust information management systems and deliver both quantitative and
    • qualitative reports
    • Knowledge of graduate labour market trends, employer expectations and the graduate recruitment sector

    Responsibilities

    • Strategic planning aligned with Departmental, Faculty and Institutional priorities
    • Excellent, accountable leadership of the team of Career Development Consultants
    • Ongoing strategic consideration of and development of diverse Faculty and stakeholder relationships
    • Design and delivery of high quality, effective and innovative Career Development, Information services
    • and engagement measures attuned to students and demonstrating insight into the South African and
    • International labour market and employment trends
    • As a member of the senior management team, excellent contribution to the strategic leadership of the
    • Careers Service
    • Ongoing personal professional growth and development
    • The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is between R671 593 and R790 107.
