    Analyst: IT Governance, Risk & Compliance (IT GRC)

    Purpose of the Position:

    The IT GRC Analyst will play a pivotal role in supporting the senior GRC manager in maturing the IT GRC processes and practices by assisting with: (i) IT policies, procedures, and processes; (ii) IT Risk Management; (iii) Quality Assurance & Compliance Management: (iv) Testing of Controls; (v) Management Reports.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities include:

    GRC Projects:

    • Assist with the scoping, planning, execution and monitoring of certain GRC-related projects.

    IT Governance:

    • Assist with the definition and implementation of Key Performance Indicators across the ICTS department;
    • Assist with the development of RACI matrices for various IT processes;
    • Assist with the development and documentation of IT-related policies and procedures.

    IT Risk Management for Operational & Project risks – periodic support of:

    • Identification & assessment of IT risks
    • Monitoring of the implementation of mitigating controls
    • Maintenance of the risk and issues register

    IT Quality Assurance & Compliance Management:

    • Support of internal audits and assessments against adopted standards (e.g. COBIT, ISO27001 etc.) tassist with compliance management and the improvement of IT / business processes.
    • Assist with quality assurance reviews of IT Projects, within the ICTS project office, against project management industry standards adopted.
    • Assist with documenting and performing Compliance review and testing procedures.

    IT Processes and Controls:

    • Support of the design and implementation of IT Processes and Controls within the ICTS department aligned with adopted standards and frameworks.
    • Assist with conducting reviews and monitoring compliance with approved business processes and control frameworks within the ICTS department.

    Internal / External Audits:

    • Co-ordination of activities required tfulfil the requirements of internal and external audits or assessments.

    Reporting:

    • Assist with the development of GRC-related dashboard reports.
    • Assist with the preparation and dissemination of GRC management reports.

    GRC Officer Requirements include:

    Minimum Requirements:

    • An Information Systems or IT-related qualification at a minimum NQF level 6 (National Diploma or Advanced Certificate).
    • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant IT GRC experience in an enterprise (complex) environment.
    • A thorough understanding of and experience in the use of:
    • the COBIT (IT Governance & Management) framework; and
    • an industry-recognised Risk Management framework
    • Good English verbal and written, business communication skills
    • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.

    Additional / Advantageous Requirements:

    • One of the following certifications: M_o_R, CRISC, CGEIT or an IRMSA-endorsed Risk Management certification.
    • COBIT Certification (IT Governance & Management Framework)
    • Project Management skills and experience in the use of an industry-recognised Project Management methodology.
    • Good presentation and facilitation skills.
    • Strong planning, organising, and coordinating skills.

    • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

    The all-inclusive remuneration package is negotiable between R427 228 and R671 593 for the 12-month contract term.

    Departmental Assistant

    The Department of Biological Sciences seeks to appoint a permanent, full-time Departmental Assistant as soon as possible.The main purpose of this position is to support teaching activities in undergraduate laboratories and to maintain associated materials and equipment; to provide support in the running and administration of the Systematics research and teaching laboratory (a core facility in the department); to provide support with plant propagation activities and facilities; and to provide
    support on undergraduate field camps.

    The ideal candidate should be a team player with excellent inter-personal skills and a good level of self-management.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 (Matric), preferably with physical and/or life science as subjects.
    • Two years relevant experience preferably within a tertiary institution.
    • Basic knowledge of standard laboratory instruments (for example: microscopes, balances, pipettes, etc.)
    • Basic knowledge of laboratory routines and chemical solutions preparation.
    • Basic computer literacy (e-mail, internet, MS Office).
    • Code E/EB driver’s license.
    • Ability to compile and maintain comprehensive inventory records.
    • Be self-motivated and able to work with own initiative.
    • Physical ability to lift and handle heavy loads up to 20 kg.
    • The following would be advantageous:
    • Technical experience working in a molecular biology laboratory.
    • Health and safety training and/or first aid (level 1) qualification.
    • Familiarity with basic handwork routines and the use of basic power tools.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Setting up of laboratory equipment, biological material and glassware as required for practical sessions.
    • Prepare chemical solutions and plant extracts.
    • Maintain up to date records of laboratory equipment and materials in teaching and Systematics lab.
    • Oversee daily operation of the Systematics laboratory and support users of this facility (access control, user registry,
    • general oversight of student laboratory use, etc.).
    • Prepare and maintain stocks of chemical solutions, buffers and other basic chemicals in the Systematics Lab.
    • Assess proper functioning of equipment in the Systematics Lab.
    • Monitor and execute laboratory waste disposal procedures.
    • Drive vehicles on errands and field camps.
    • Provide basic handyman support in the department.
    • Assist with the sowing and planting of material for practical sessions; and collecting live plant material.
    • Assist with the maintenance of plant propagation facilities and materials, and monitoring plant propagation facilities.
    • Provide support on undergraduate field camps.
    • The incumbent is expected to help with ad hoc duties which arise from time to time.
    • The annual remuneration package, including benefits is negotiable between R236997 and R278817 per annum depending on skills and experience.

    Brand & Campaigns Administrator

    The Communications & Marketing Department (CMD) is looking for a Brand & Campaigns Administrator to provide administrative support on a full-time, two-year contract basis to support the Brand and Stakeholder Relations unit through brand communications and stakeholder management initiatives. The nature of this position entails physically assisting with project implementation.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Supporting the team with developing and implementing appropriate, brand positioning and communication campaigns / projects for the university.
    • Facilitating the production of promotional designs and writing copy for communications material; ensuring brand and style guide consistency throughout.
    • Supporting the unit in ensuring that all corporate merchandise, brand collateral and promotional materials are sourced and/or produced timeously for intended stakeholders; ensuring they align to UCT’s brand architecture and corporate identity guidelines.
    • Supporting the team with the benchmarking, monitoring, gathering insights and data analysing of all brand communications and stakeholder relations initiatives.
    • Benchmark data and gather competitor insights of Higher Education and comparable institutions / organisations; and providing insight reports thereof.
    • Submission of suitable insights to assist in project planning marketing campaigns that elevate UCT in the marketplace.
    • Supporting the team with administrative tasks
    • Assisting with collation and submission of accurate finance-related documents for processing in a timeous manner.
    • Regular updating of the Customer Relations Management system (CRM) with stakeholder data and insights.

    Minimum requirements:

    • Minimum NQF 5 qualification in Marketing, PR, Advertising, Business Administration, Media Studies, Promotions, or equivalent relevant qualification.
    • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in marketing, brand management, advertising, or digital marketing.
    • An understanding of data analysis through relevant systems (e.g., Google Analytics, Data Studio etc.),
    • An understanding of CRM functionality
    • Excellent knowledge of Integrated Marketing Communications, stakeholder analyses, project planning and implementation.
    • Code 08 driver’s licence

    Advantageous:

    • 3-year diploma in Marketing, PR, Communications, Business Administration
    • Experience in working in a similar environment or in a marketing, research, or online advertising agency
    • A good understanding of the Higher Education environment specifically as it relates to Branding & Stakeholder Communications

    Administrative Assistant

    The Communication & Marketing Department (CMD) is looking for an Administrative Assistant on a 2-year contract, to support the operations of the Brand and Stakeholder Relations unit. This includes Customer Relations Management (CRM) / Database support and administration; overall administrative support including unit projects and to ensure processes are followed to enhance the operational integrity of the unit.
    The nature of this position entails being present at events/activations and physically assisting with project implementation.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Assist with timeously updating the Customer Relations Management (CRM) / database with stakeholder data.
    • Administrative support for team projects and campaigns e.g. actively monitoring event registrations and enquiries; event/campaign activations; assistance with distribution of brand collateral to stakeholders.
