Head - Engineering Services to Informal Settlements
Registration as a Professional Engineer will be advantageous
At least 7 years experience in the design, construction and maintenance of municipal engineering services
At least 3 years experience in service delivery in informal settlements/areas of informality
Project management experience
Good knowledge of project management principles, council engineering standards, specifications and contract documentation, standard Government housing programmes and low-cost housing finance
A good understanding of the dynamics in informal settlements, which often require unconventional or innovative solutions
A valid Code EB driver’s licence
Key Performance Areas
Direct and oversee servicing of Greenfield land for accommodating residents to be relocated from informal settlements being serviced
Provide input to Senior Management with respect to policies and the planning of the Department
Direct and oversee the management and implementation of all planned and emergency projects
Direct and oversee the provision of technical and other related support to the project management, facilitation and implementation staff, consultants and contractors
Direct and oversee the coordination and integration of service interventions in all informal settlements and/or backyarder areas
Oversee and direct the work of engineering professionals
Manage the capital and operating budgets for the unit
Advise and give support to the Informal Settlements Management section
Advise and give support to participating Non-governmental Organisations
