Head of Animation at Crayon

Role Description

Looking for a talented and creative animation genius to head up the animation studio in Johannesburg. The Head of Animation will need to possess a creative eye and artistic aptitude as well as be highly proficient in both 2D and 3D animation. This position requires a strong leader who can inspire, guide, push and grow the team by being bold, innovative and not afraid to take up a challenge as well as not be afraid to get down in the trenches with the team. As a manager of the animation team, you will be responsible for the creative output of the studio along with the ECD, and you will need to be able to work on your own projects while leading, guiding and motivating others.

Salary

R35,000 – R45,000 per month (negotiable based on experience)

Responsibilities

• Create designs by using CGI software, photo realistic models, editing, filming techniques, cinematography and lighting
• Lead the animation studio, and drive the work by generating ideas, guiding creative teams, developing concepts and executing work to polished completion
• Present and sell ideas both internally and to clients
• Turn scripts and develop storyboards into animations
• Create 2D and 3D CGI models from concepts and drawings
• Collaborate with management and other creatives

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years’ experience
• Relevant tertiary qualification
• Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
• CGI software - Cinema 4D, Blender, Lightwave and Octane
• Interest in movies, music, gaming, character design and storytelling
• Creative with strong conceptual, high creative strategic thinker
• Exceptional attention to detail, consistency and accuracy
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure
• Innovative thinker and problem solver
• Self-motivated and accountable
• Ability to work overtime when required
• Be a team player and have excellent communication skills
• Have experience in project management and deliverables
• Be comfortable working with deadlines and budget restrictions
