    Head of Collections

    Job Description

    • Head of Collections is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the Accounts Receivable within the organization. The role focuses on optimizing cash flow, reducing debtor ageing, minimizing bad debt exposure, improving collections performance, and leading a team to achieve collection targets.
    • The incumbent will oversee all aspects of Account management, Collections workflow, Debit order administration, EFT collections, Debt recovery initiatives, Dispute and Cancellation resolution, and Campaign Management processes. 
    • The role requires strong leadership, commercial insight, data analytics capability, and the effective use of financial systems, business intelligence tools, and technologies to provide accurate reporting and actionable insights for decision-making.

    • Reduction of Aged Debt & Long Outstanding Balances
    • Bad Debt Management & Recoveries
    • Debit Order Processing & Collections
    • EFT Collections & Payment Processing
    • Customer Relationship Management & Dispute Resolution
    • Reporting, Analytics & Business Intelligence
    • Technology, Systems (Excalibur, Icas, Ezra, Genesis, Hyphen, Dialler)
    • Campaign Management

    Requirements

    Education:

    • Finance, Commerce, or related field
    • Professional finance qualification will be advantageous

    Experience & Leadership:

    • Minimum 8 – 10 years’ experience in Debtors Management
    • Proven experience managing a Debtors/Collections teams
    • Strong service industry experience
    • Excellent Debtor Ageing analysis skills
    • Advanced Excel skills
    • Collection workflow management systems
    • Strategic Leadership & Decision Making
    • Results Orientation & Performance Management
    • Communication and Presentation Skills
    • Analytical Thinking
    • High Attention to Detail
