Positioned within a pioneering biotechnology organisation, this critical leadership role focuses on driving strategic human capital management and operational excellence across an established firm of 80–90 employees. Operating full-time on-site in Midrand from Monday to Friday (08:00–17:00) with micro-flexible hours, the successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team, bridging the gap between management and staff to ensure people thrive. This hands-on position offers a direct opportunity to shape corporate culture, governance, and end-to-end human resource solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Alignment: Partner with Heads of Department to design and implement people solutions that support overarching business objectives, resource planning, and cost management.
Recruitment & Talent Acquisition: Lead the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle, including strategic sourcing, screening, negotiating, and successfully placing highly skilled professionals.
Employee Lifecycle Management: Own the comprehensive onboarding and off-boarding frameworks to guarantee an exceptional, professional experience for all personnel.
Policy & Governance: Review, optimise, and maintain HR Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), company policies, organograms, and job descriptions in alignment with regulatory standards.
Performance Management: Manage the end-to-end performance appraisal cycle, including Key Performance Indicator (KPI) development and performance management training for leadership and staff.
Employee & Industrial Relations: Provide expert guidance on employee relations, managing formal industrial relations processes in strict alignment with corporate values and South African labour legislation.
Training & Development: Facilitate in-house training initiatives, staff career path planning, and skills development frameworks.
Audit Readiness: Lead internal and external audit preparation (including ISO, AABB, and SANAS standards) specifically relating to personnel documentation, compliance, and training records.
Reporting & Remuneration: Prepare and present comprehensive HR reports for executive leadership, and conduct objective salary reviews in line with market benchmarks and internal budgets.
Requirements
SA Citizen
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a closely related field.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive, relevant human resources experience, ideally within a technical, regulated, or high-output environment.
Leadership: Proven experience managing small teams (this role directly supervises one HR Administrator).
Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of South African labour laws and compliance frameworks.
Attributes: Exceptional negotiation, conflict management, and interpersonal skills across all organisational tiers, coupled with an unwavering commitment to confidentiality.
Software: Sage 300 / Sage 300 People (Highly Preferred) and Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
