The Role

The Head of Portfolio Optimisation is responsible for optimising profitability whilst minimizing capital requirements and return volatility. Key to the role is formulating and maintaining the credit policy and appetite. The incumbent guides business to drive key scoring and analytical initiatives, determines credit rating systems and advises senior management on the selection of major rating assumptions. This role identifies opportunities for new business and balances risk and profitability variables. The incumbent leads, integrates and optimises multiple team outputs.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum Qualification - B Comm / Engineering Degree with post graduate qualification in Analytics
• Preferred Qualification - Honours Degree in Actuarial Sciences / Financial Mathematics / Decision Sciences or Masters Degree in Business Mathematics and Informatics
• Experience - Minimum of five years-related experience in a financial institution at a middle management level leading a team

Responsibilities

• Defines and facilitates the Organisation's customer service value proposition
• Determines profitable credit appetite thresholds and strategy
• Builds and maintains effective relationships with relevant Credit Risk stakeholders
• Manages the required resources to enable business performance and achieve business objectives
• Manages the business processes for area of responsibility
• Manages the Retail Credit Portfolio
• Participates in planned activities that are appropriate for own and staff development in area of responsibility
• Implements performance management across the area of responsibility
• Ensures resourcing decisions are aligned to the Transformation Plan
• Prepares and delivers innovative strategies in support of the operational functions to enhance performance
• Ensures the financial performance of the business
• Enables shareholder financial value
