A relevant B.Eng. or BSc (Eng) engineering degree.
Registered as a Professional Engineer with ECSA
Post-graduate qualification in Project Management preferred
10 and more years of experience in a project leadership role, with a focus on power generation projects
At least 5 years in a team leadership role in heavy industry, engineering and and/or capital projects
High level of expertise in capital project development and execution
In-depth knowledge of Power Generation and Transmission technologies, with focus on renewable energy
In-depth knowledge of power system operations, analysis and planning
Key Performance Areas
Leading team of project management professionals in developing and executing programs to establish new power generation assets for the City
Leading the development and execution of large infrastructure programs related to the establishment of new power generation assets for the City
Introduction and hard wiring of international project management best practices into new and existing processes to ensure efficient and world-class delivery of capital projects by the department
Effective engagement at all levels of the City and with external stakeholders, including Council, Mayco, EMT, spheres of Government, regulators and others.
Effective management of staff to ensure efficient and effective meeting of sectional performance measures
Effective planning of operational expenditure related to the running of the section, related to project development, specialist studies, training, software procurement, travelling and others
Contributing to the development of an accurate operational and capital expenditure plan for the section, branch and department through the implementation of sound financial projection techniques.
