    Hospital Facility Manager

    Description

    The Facility Manager’s overall responsibility is to manage and control the operational environment of a day hospital. Furthermore, the Facility Manager is responsible for the end-to-end operational execution within the area of responsibility and will assume the overall leadership and delivery of operational performance. The team member will be responsible to plan, direct, co-ordinate evaluate and review all activities necessary for the management of the facility.The Facility Manager will be responsible for liaising with various stakeholders in order to ensure business growth, sustainability and continuous improvement of business processes to increase market share and business competitiveness. The team member will be required to promote Advanced Health strategic priorities and initiative

    Further Role Breakdown :

    • Ensure timeous submission of all supplier invoices for payment.
    • Participate in business planning and budgeting processes and manage nursing costs according to budget.
    • Ensure compliance with finance month-end process.
    • Monthly variance reporting.
    • Ensure follow-up on exceptional variances for correctness.
    • Manage stock utilization and drive product management processes within unit, together with relevant stakeholders
    • Demonstrate leadership by conveying a strong sense of commitment to the company’s values.
    • Provide strategic direction and implement key performance areas for the business unit.
    • Identify areas for change and new business opportunities for the business unit as potential growth areas.
    • Identify areas to improve operational efficiencies to ensure sustainability.
    • Ensure hospital is providing safe, cost-effective quality patient care inline with Clinical Governance strategy and evidence-based practice.
    • Identify quality improvement opportunities and ensure appropriate strategy and quality improvement initiatives are developed and measured.
    • Provide emergency care to patients in a crisis.
    • Prepare monthly reports to inform management of the status and implementation plans of programs, services, and quality initiatives.
    • Manage change in integrated health care delivery systems, such as work restructuring, technological innovations, and shifts in the focus of care.
    • Inspect facilities and recommend building or equipment modifications to ensure emergency readiness and compliance to access, safety, and sanitation regulations.
    • Maintain computerized record management systems to store and process data such as personnel activities and information, and to produce reports.
    • Evaluate the patient’s journey through patient experience and stakeholderinput.•Evaluate nursing quality indicators and clinical outcomes
    • Drive implementation of group quality initiatives.
    • Timeous resolution of complaints.
    • Monitor safety standards in accordance with the Machine and Occupational Safety Act (Act 6 of 1983).
    • Report all accidents / incidents to Regional Operations Manager and the Group Quality Control Manager.
    • Ensure compliance with the medication administration and storage policy of Advanced Health.
    • Effective leadership and people management
    • Demonstrate visible leadership in respect to, operating model, Nursing strategy and image of the profession, actively sponsor team engagement initiatives and projects to ensure continued and improved productivity.
    • Drive and manage all people related processes.
    • Mentor and coach team members.
    • Maintaining and improving standards in the Operating Theatre Complex.
    • Initiate and implement operational activities of the business unit aimed at managing risks, delivering best patient experience; best outcomes; most cost effective; whilst ensuring that the team remain engaged.
    • Ensure best and safest patient care.
    • Ensure hospital is providing safe, cost effective quality patient care inline with Clinical Governance strategy and evidence-based practice.
    • Manage overhead expenses according to budget.
    • Control and manage variable staff cost.
    • Equipment and instrumentation management and control.Co-ordinate/facilitate IPC in the Operating Theatre Complex.
    • Ongoing customer Satisfaction according to set standards.
    • Manage the operational team in all their duties on a continuous basis to achieve and maintain optimum measurable as set.
    • Work effectively and co-operatively with others to establish and maintain good working relationships that are mutually beneficial.
    • Display a professional attitude when responding to potential business partner’s requirements.
    • Maintain customer intimacy through building relationships with doctors and external providers to build patient loyalty.
    • Be a brand ambassador and represent the Hospital by attending networking and industry events.
    • Ensure broad communication to members of the community, local interest groups, industrial associations and the media in relation to promote the business unit and the services provided.
    • Maintain active participation and membership in networking with organizations.
    • Applying all aspects related to Human Resources, including performance management and disciplinary procedures.
    • Ensure relevant formal training for all new team members.
    • Maintain attendance registers for all team members.
    • Performance criteria to be determined for all staff Manage all disciplinary actions.
    • Timeous and accurate submission of all HR related forms.
    • Ensure a structured working environment for staff.
    • Arrange a monthly meeting for all relevant team members to discuss issues and give feedback.
    • Arrange weekly meetings for clinical management team.
    • Control and manage absenteeism and ensure updated records.
    • Identify training needs of the team and arrange appropriate training if needed.
    • Scheduling and time management of all Operating Theatre and support teams.
    • Create and maintain a positive environment where the differences of others are recognized, understood, and valued, so that all can reach their full potential and maximize their contributions.
    • Arrange monthly meetings with all practitioners to discuss relevant issues.
    • Ensure achievement of transformation goals as set out in the BBEE scorecard.
    • Provide timely guidance and feedback to direct report to help strengthen skill areas and leverage potential.
    • Provide training and development opportunities for the respective teams aligned to the team’s core function.Establish the business unit to be an employer of choice to attract and retain the best talent to achieve group objectives.
    • Manage the performance and delivery of all direct reports.
    • Recognise and reward performance appropriately

    Requirements

    • An Appropriate three-year tertiary qualification.
    • A post-basic qualification in Operating Room Nursing Science will be advantageous.
    • A Nursing administration and or management qualification will be an advantage
    • At least 5 years’ experience in a Senior Managerial position, preferably in a hospital environment and /or service-related environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to build senior strategic partnerships.
    • Experience in administration, financial, operations and human resources management (including communication and training) are recommended.
    • Basic understanding of hospital operations.
    • Sound financial and budgeting knowledge is essential.
    • A detailed understanding of financial and business management principles.
    • Good knowledge of the healthcare industry.
    • Relevant computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
    • Proficiency in stakeholder relationship management.
    • Strong and persuasive negotiating skills.
    • Resilience within a complex and challenging environment.
    • Analytical thinking, problem solving and judgement ability.
    • Be able to create effective networks in the health and related industries.
    • Competent in the management competencies of planning, organization, leading and control.
    • Holistic/big picture thinking.
    • Ethical behavior and awareness.

    • Ability to develop and mentor nursing staff.
