ICT Systems Engineer (Back-Up and Restore) at City of Tshwane

Job purpose

• To plan, implement, monitor and maintain backup and recovery solutions in order to protect organisational data and to ensure business continuity

Appointment requirements

• An appropriate three-year career-related tertiary qualification (national diploma or degree) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems or any ICT-related study field
• The following relevant technical certifications will be an added advantage: Veeam Certified Engineer (VMCE), Microsoft Certified: AWS Certified Administrator
• At least three years’ experience in ICT enterprise backup, recovery, business continuity and infrastructure support
• A valid Code B driving licence
• Computer literacy
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost

Primary functions

• Administer, maintain and optimise enterprise backup and recovery solutions to ensure the secure protection and availability of organisational data and systems
• Implement and support business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities to ensure the timely recovery of critical ICT services following disruptions
• Implement backup security controls and ensure compliance with organisational policies, data protection standards, and regulatory requirements
• Optimise backup services through continuous improvement, collaboration, technical support and the adoption of emerging technologies and best practices
