ICT Systems Engineer at Ilembe District Municipality

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Installing and testing new software and evaluate the functionality of the software.
• Move and relocate personal computer equipment
• Render end user ICT support in a professional and efficient manner
• Monitoring ICT systems for needed patches, releases, viruses, and potential problem identification
• Troubleshooting and resolving network, hardware & software issues/ problems
• Verifying and confirming that the configuration (hardware and software) of ICT devices is correct before delivering to end user
• Completing the computer asset roll-out form with the issuing of new equipment to end users
• Maintaining effective levels of client/peer satisfaction within business and internal relationships, professionalism and manners by attending to operational, network (communication) computer access and service problems
• Liaising with supervisor and/ or other technical colleagues regarding identified problems
• Keep abreast of new/ latest technologies by research using the Internet, attend seminars, exhibitions and training courses Liaise and co-operate with hardware and software vendors regarding installation of new/ existing systems
• Assist in the creation of ICT documentation and the enforcement of ICT Policies and Procedures, particularly the ICT Strategy and Security policies.
• Utilise computer manuals and the Internet to research and provide solutions to problems and faults logged by the municipal computer user community to ensure that IT software and hardware issues are resolved
• Performing any other ICT related functions as lawfully instructed by supervisor and within reasonable ability of position holder, which corresponds with the duties and which is on the same level of execution.
• Assist with identifying sources of risks and key risk indicators In order to adhere to, and comply with, the OHS and other ICT related policies.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Information Technology.
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
• Certified Cisco Network Administrator (CCNA)
• MS Server Professional proficient
• 4 years’ relevant experience in ICT support and maintenance,
• Valid Driver’s License

COMPETENCY:

• Ability to give attention to detail
• Good understanding of Microsoft Server environment
