    Innovation Manager – All Young People on Pathways to Productivity

    Role

    The All Young People on Pathways to Productivity (AYP) portfolio is looking for an Innovation Manager who will support grant-making and strategy development within the AYP portfolio, with a particular focus on supporting young people to:

    • access opportunities for quality post-secondary skills training, with a focus on technical and vocational education;
    • access academic and psycho-social support structures to retain a grip on these opportunities;
    • access critical work-integrated learning and apprenticeship opportunities that result in certification; and
    • ensure that these skills improve access to work and income-generating opportunities.

    Minimum requirements

    • Post-graduate qualification in the social sciences or related fields.
    • 3-5 years experience in one or more of the following areas: Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), youth development, skills development, basic education, entrepreneurship/ self-enterprise development, and related sectors.
    • A highly self-motivated individual who can work independently.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, as well as a team player.
    • A sense of innate curiosity, empathy, and enjoyment in engaging in a wide range of work.
    • Analytical, with the ability to think strategically.
    • Excellent written, and verbal communication and research skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Working closely with the Innovation Director for the AYP portfolio to ensure that DGMT’s strategy for post-secondary skilling is fully developed and implemented. This includes having the capacity to provide strategic leadership on skills-focused issues relating to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), alternative skills pathways, enterprise development, certification structures, and funding flows, for example.
    • Working alongside key stakeholders, and partners, to link ideas that support DGMT’s strategic goals and opportunities under Opportunity 9 and 10.
    • Supporting grantees, key flagship projects and partners in order to identify opportunities for strengthening DGMT’s post-secondary skilling approach and finding opportunities for synergy across the sector.

    Reviewing and processing applications for funding;

    • Take a leading role in strategy processes, advocacy, and engagement in the development of post-secondary skills-related grants within the AYP portfolio.
    • Working with grantees to understand, refine, and motivate for grant allocations in line with DGMT strategy;
    • Effectively manage relationships with grantees and supporting organisations to implement their programmes effectively.
    • Review periodic reports on the implementation of supported initiatives for assessment of progress towards strategic aims
    • Draw on the emerging lessons from grantees to create a learning feedback loop that improves DGMT’s grant-making process.
    • Work with the DGMT Communications team to develop key communications products that support the nutrition strategy (i.e. writing opinion pieces, blog posts, making policy submissions, and conducting media interviews).
    • Experience working with various stakeholders within the public sector; including government officials and public health practitioners.
