    Intermediate Software Engineer

    About the Job
    What We’re Looking For:

    • Responsible for implementing and operation of business domain products.

    Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

    Technical

    • Help to ensure that the integrity of the business domain products are maintained.
    • Follow and contribute to best practices when completing work.
    • Implement and maintain enterprise architecture.
    • 20% of capacity needs to be dedicated to refactoring or maintenance.
    • Research and recommend technology to meet business requirements.
    • Define structure of new modules.
    • Actively mentor and explain programming concepts to junior members.

    People

    • Work with team members to provide story points for upcoming work.
    • Provide technical guidance and feedback to junior members.
    • Provide peer feedback to the engineering team lead.
    • Work with the engineering lead to help grow junior team members.
    • Participate in technical interviews.

    Management

    • Communicate progress effectively with team members and business stakeholders.
    • Make sure best practices are followed by team members.
    • Work with juniors to break up tasks into smaller pieces.
    • Drive solutions when maintenance issues arise.

    Business

    • Workwith business to clarify and define requirements.
    • Provid e business domain knowledge to help drive decision making by business.
    • Understand the roadmap and how current work relates to the strategic goals.
    • Contribute to developing product strategy.
    • Effectively communicate technological limitations to business.

    Personal

    • Live the company's values.
    • Actively look for opportunities to improve.
    • Drive self-improvement.
    • Make sure team members don't get left behind.

    Things That Should Be In Your Background:

    • ± 3 Years web development experience.
    • A degree in a software development related field.
    • Object orientated experience.
    • Good understanding of PHP, as well as front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and RESTful API.
    • Good understanding of MySQL, Relational Database design and writing SQL queries.
    • Linux command-line and Git experience.
    • Familiar with continuous integration.
    • Ability to work well under pressure.
    • Experience in Moodle framework (beneficial, not required)

    • The candidate may be required to work after hours and be on support, if needed.
    • High stress fast paced environment.

    Management Responsibilities

    • Personal time management is important.
    • Ensure that administrative tasks, e.g. CapEx tracking sheet and Jira tickets, are updated in a timely manner.
