IT Platforms Specialist at Datacentrix

Our client in Pretoria is looking for an IT Platforms Specialist position on a 12-month contract.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree or higher in IT 
• Linux, VMware, Microsoft and other relevant certifications will be advantageous
• 3 to 5+ years of working experience as a system, networking or infrastructure engineer in relevant fields
• 3 to 5+ years of experience with Windows Server
• 3 to 5+ years of experience with Linux
• 3 to 5+ years of experience with Networking
• Understanding of Anti-Virus, Commvault Backup and Management Server Exposure
• Excellent understanding of Virtualization, Hyper-V, Vmware, Cloud

Overall responsibilities:

• Perform system monitoring, check the integrity and availability of all hardware resources, server resources and generate capacity reports to illustrate growth using VOPS (VMWare vRealize Operations Manager)
• Understanding of Linux operating system and able to navigate on a Linux server
• Will be responsible for maintenance tasks on Exchange 2010 and troubleshooting of all related exchange faults and errors.
• Creation of PowerShell scripts for both active directory and Exchange 2010 to help make complex implementation and maintenance tasks easy.
• Able to deploy security patches and create application deployments using Microsoft System Center Configuration Management (SCCM). Will be required to patch all servers in the environment and to improve on the current deployment process.
• Understanding of cloud solutions and able to configure and deploy Microsoft offerings as per the license agreement.
• Responsible for new user creations, Terminations and modifications. This also includes access control on active directory.
• Responsible for DNS, DHCP, Certificate Authority, GPO manager and all other related services offered by active directory.
