Junior Accountant at Harvard House South Africa

What the position entails:

• Taking full responsibility for a list of clients, including building long term client relationships
• Preparation and submission of SARS statutory returns eg EMP 201s and EMP 501s, VAT returns, DWT forms
• Calculation of dividends for business entities
• Preparation of annual financial statements for business entities and trusts (accounting officer engagements and compilation engagements)
• Completion of simple to intermediate income tax computations for individuals, trusts and business entities
• Provisional tax calculations for individuals, trusts and business entities
• Willingness to work overtime when required in order to meet deadlines

Requirements:

• Grade 12 with accounting or a relevant accounting qualification.
• Previous working experience in an accounting field. Having worked in an accounting firm would be an advantage.
• Strong computer skills (MS Office). Working knowledge of word and Excel is essential.
• Must have proven ability to prepare simple to intermediate tax computations for individuals and various business entities and trusts.
• Knowledge of Auditmate software, Pastel and Quickbooks would be an advantage.
