The Night Auditor is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all hotel financial transactions and operational records during the overnight shift. Reporting to the Night Manager and working under the guidance of the Front Office Manager, the role combines financial auditing, front office operations, guest service, and administrative responsibilities. The Night Auditor verifies guest accounts, balances departmental revenue, processes financial transactions, and prepares audit reports while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
In addition to financial duties, the Night Auditor supports the Front Office and Guest Relations teams by delivering exceptional customer service in line with luxury hospitality standards. The role involves managing guest inquiries, handling check-ins and check-outs when required, coordinating communication between departments, and ensuring that guest needs, requests, and concerns are addressed promptly and professionally.
The position requires monitoring room occupancy, maintaining accurate guest records, liaising closely with departments such as Housekeeping, Security, Maintenance, and Food and Beverage, and ensuring that all guest billing and cashiering functions are completed correctly. The Night Auditor is also responsible for balancing cash floats, reconciling credit card transactions, processing foreign currency exchanges according to hotel policies, and ensuring that all supporting documentation is properly completed and submitted to the Accounts Department.
The role includes operating the hotel switchboard, managing incoming calls, facilitating guest communications, coordinating wake-up calls, and responding appropriately to emergency situations. Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently during overnight hours are essential.
The Night Auditor is expected to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, communicate effectively with management, uphold hotel policies and procedures, and contribute to a culture of teamwork and service excellence. A commitment to guest satisfaction, professional presentation, continuous learning, and adherence to health, safety, and emergency procedures is fundamental to the role.
Requirements
Must be computer literate, knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Opera is essential.
Must be able to work well with limited supervision and under pressure and be able to multi-task.
Must have experience as a Night Auditor in a five star environment for a minimum of 2 years.
Cashiering experience is essential.
Have an ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding. European language skills will be advantageous
