    Job Description

    •     The Junior Risk Officer will be responsible to identify and manage current and potential risks in “the business” as part of the 1LoD Risk team. The role focuses on the full spectrum of risks and the role holder will act as a point of contact for business areas that they partner with to ensure an integrated view of risk frameworks and systems is maintained and developed whilst proactively endorsing and supporting risk management knowledge sharing.
    •     The role holder will be responsible to make accurate risk mitigating recommendations to implement internal controls, transfer risk or avoid the risk related business. Collect and analyse the risk and control information and ensure that the organisation is adequately protected against loss. Draft reports including recommendations on proactive management decisions.
       

    Qualifications

    •     Relevant degree and advanced diplomas in Business, Commerce or Management Studies (BCOM/Informatics), Risk Management and/or Audit.
    •     2-4 years of experience in risk management or consultancy
    •     Experience in an audit environment will be an advantage 
    •     Good understanding of IT and Operations/Data Management operations and processes 
    •     Strong Risk, Control and process background

    •     Ability to work well independently or as part of a Regional team; 
    •     Excellent influencing/negotiation skills; 
    •     (International travel may be required from time-to-time)

    What you’ll be doing 

    •     Document, and provide assurance on thel risk, controls and processes of the Company
    •     Perform ad hoc gap analysis to the standard control framework of the Company
    •     Prepare risk reports and presentation material for management and risk management committees.
    •     Contribute to the regulatory/other projects e.g. POPIA Project by way of issue management, advice on controls.
    •     Perform ad-hoc and planned monitoring reviews (e.g. RCSAs) to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of implemented controls
    •     Escalate identified risk issues to management and/or relevant governance forums (2LOD and 3LOD); and work in partnership with the business and oversight functions to ensure where appropriate, risk management mitigation plans are adequate and implemented effectively; 
    •     Establishing and quantifying the Company's 'risk appetite', i.e. the level of risk they are prepared to accept
    •     Drive risk education and training to staff to build risk awareness and culture within the BU.
    •     Serving as a role model for high personal and corporate ethical values and standards of integrity.
    •     Provision of proactive support and guidance, as an advisor to the first line teams in executing their responsibilities as set out in the Enterprise Risk Management Framework 
    •     Contribute and assist with management of the key operational risks identified, as required 
    •     Promote awareness and assist in embedding an improved risk culture throughout the business
    •     Provide advice and support relating to Risk Policy and Governance requirements
    •     Lead and support education initiatives to develop risk capability
    •     Collaborate with other business units to address new or emerging risks as a result of internal policy or regulatory change, ensuring that  risk is addressed
    •     Assist in maintenance of key policy and framework documentation
    •     Execute specific deep dives or investigations to better understand risks, issues or incidents within the BU and support the mitigation of this risk should it be necessary
    •     Analysis of Management Information to identify and provide guidance on the deterioration and improvements in business units’ risk profile
    •     Design and embedment of appropriate controls to remediate control gaps identified
    •     Closure of existing assurance findings
    •     Ensuring adequate support is in place for Internal Audits
    •     Provide oversight to improve consistency and quality in general practices, including document management
    •     Act as deputy for the Operational Risk Manager (Africa) as required.
