    Junior Software Developer

    Basic Requirements:

    • Formal Tertiary education:
    • Grade 12
    • Information Technology Degree / National Diploma Software Development

    Languages:

    • English – Read, write and speak (required)
    • Afrikaans – Read, write and speak (optional)
    • Drivers Licence: Code 8- (required)

    Experience:

    Minimum of 1 years’ experience in:

    • Proficiency in React, NodeJs
    • Familiarity / Willingness to learn: Nextron, Vercel, AWS, and Tailwind CSS (advantageous) Electron, and Next.js.
    • Good understanding of front-end, back-end, and database development.

    Job Objectives:

    The Junior Software Developer is responsible for the development, maintenance, and enhancement of the VR content hosting platform, encompassing both web and standalone applications. This role ensures seamless customer access to VR content, maintains code integrity across platforms, and drives the evolution of the platform into a Learning Management System (LMS). The developer will independently manage all aspects of the application lifecycle, from feature development and bug fixes to quality assurance, deployment, and ensuring that AWS hosting management is maintained and managed efficiently.

    • Provide customers with seamless access to VR training content.
    • Ensure a robust, scalable, and user-friendly platform.
    • Drive customer retention and satisfaction by enhancing platform capabilities.
    • Evolve the VR content hosting application into a comprehensive LMS.
    • Minimize risks associated with new feature releases by implementing a staging environment to test updates before production deployment.

    Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

    Development and Maintenance:

    • Develop new features for the VR content hosting web and standalone applications.
    • Maintain a unified codebase across platforms (web and standalone).
    • Perform routine maintenance, updates, and backups of the application.

    Bug Fixing and Quality Assurance:

    • Identify and resolve application bugs promptly.
    • Conduct thorough QA testing before releases to ensure high performance and reliability.

    Staging Environment Management:

    • Design, implement, and maintain a staging environment to test new features and updates.
    • Ensure robust risk management processes are in place to shield customers from bugs and downtime associated with feature releases.

    Feature Enhancement and Scoping:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders to scope and implement new features, including LMS functionalities.
    • Continuously improve user experience based on customer feedback.

    Hosting and Deployment Management:

    • Manage AWS hosting environments, ensuring uptime and scalability.
    • Handle Vercel deployments and related configurations.

    Documentation and Code Integrity:

    • Maintain comprehensive documentation for application features, updates, and maintenance routines.
    • Ensure secure and efficient version control practices.
