Appointment requirements

• Grade 12
• Basic Ambulance Course with Health Professions Council of South Africa registration
• Fire Fighter I
• Hazmat First Responder: Awareness Level
• Fire Fighter 2
• Hazmat First Responder: Operational Level
• A valid Code C driving licence (to be declared competent to drive or operate a Code C licence vehicle, competency to be confirmed annually)
• Three years’ applicable experience
• For appointment over the proficiency
• Physical fitness and health
• Must pass physical capability test
• Must pass medical evaluation
• Willingness to be assigned to any geographical fire station in Tshwane
• Willingness and ability to work shifts and overtime with little or no notice

Primary functions

• Perform a variety of tasks associated with responding to rescue and firefighting services
• Render basic emergency medical care
• Practise fire prevention
• Operate and maintain firefighting equipment, apparatus and fire station facilities
