    Learning and Development Manager

    Introduction

    Specification

    • Plan, direct, or coordinate the training and development activities and staff of an organization. Build organizational capacity and capability by delivering programmers that will enhance current skills and develop future skills that are aligned to the objectives of Digitization and Customer Centricity.

    Learning and Development Program Design

    • Work with the content developer, facilitators and developers and design and develop L&D programs to meet individual and organizational learning needs within specified timescales and resources; identify and incorporate appropriate L&D methodologies and delivery channels and align these objectives of Digitization and Customer Centricity. Develop relevant content and high-quality learning resources to create high levels of learner engagement and achievement. Ensure all training interventions are focused on operational systems and products, critical thinking, business fundamentals, and leadership.

    Strategic Planning and Implementation

    • Build, align and implement the Learning and Development Strategy and align it with the overall Talent, HR and TIH Strategy. Develop and implement a digital Strategy with the Head of Learning and Development and assist with the management of the digital learning platform.

    Learning Needs Analysis

    • Engage with department Heads and line managers to clarify short and medium term training and talent requirements. Engage with the talent consultants to unpack the key learning needs based on data insights and feedback.

    Data Analytics and Insights

    • Deliver complex analyses of Learning and Development data; identify key trends and contribute to the creation of Learning and Development insights that enable the diagnosis of business issues, enhancement of employee engagement, and/ or improvement of business performance. Conduct an analysis of current and future skills requirements within the TIH context. Assist in tracking and reporting on training interventions.

    Leadership and Direction

    • Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.

    Improvement / Innovation

    • Work with the Team Leader in L&D to evaluate and measure facilitator performance and ensure overall upskilling and improvements in L&D practices, processes and systems. Ensure that training material/content is always up to date and in line with business needs. Assist with analyzing of training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs. Stay up to date with new training interventions and methodology.

    Stakeholder Engagement

    • Actively engage with key stakeholders across the business to ensure the alignment and relevance of learning programmers. Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time. Actively engage with the Learner Management Systems and other learning data, monitor and report on learning initiatives. Work with the Customer Insights team, coaches and team leaders to identify and understand the return on investments to utilize in the improvement / development of future training needs.

    Organizational Capability Building

    • Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.

    Budgeting

    • Deliver a budget for an area of the organization or conduct complex analyses on budget progress in other areas of the organization.

    Performance Management

    • Manage and report on team performance; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project / account team members and hold them accountable for achieving these, taking appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team / personal objectives.

    Policy Development & Implementation

    • Assist with the development and implementation of learning and development policies and procedures, in order to shift the focus to self-development and self owned learning.

    HR Data Management

    • Ensure all training / learning data is correctly captured and aligned with the format requirements set out by legislations.

    Requirements
    General Education

    • BA Undergrad (Essential); MA Psychology (Advantageous)

    General Experience

    • 5 or more years experience within the corporate environment (Essential);
    • Project management experience / knowledge (Advantageous)
    • Experience in the Learning and Development industry (Advantageous);
    • Experience in the Insurance industry (Advantageous)

    Managerial Experience

    • 3 or more years experience of planning and managing resources to deliver predetermined objectives as specified by more senior managers (Essential)
    • SAQA Accredited Equivalent* - It is the onus of the applicant to provide TIH and its subsidiaries with certified evidence that their qualification(s) meet the equivalent NQF level required for this role at time of application.
    • Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) competency requirements: FAIS recognized qualifications / Regulatory Examinations / Class of Business Certification and / or CPD according to your DOFA (where applicable) - As a registered Financial Service Provider, we are mandated to ensure that all our representatives are always and remain fit and proper at all times.
