Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• A Master’s degree relevant to the teaching of Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy, or Mathematics Education
• A relevant teaching qualification relevant to the field of Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy or Mathematics Education
• Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy as a major at undergraduate level
• At least two (2) years’ relevant lecturing experience at tertiary level or five (5) years’ relevant experience in Intermediate Phase (IP) phase at school level.
• Specialized knowledge of methodologies of teaching Mathematics, Mathematical Literacy or Mathematics Education
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans - B.Ed tuition at Wellington is Afrikaans

RECOMMENDATIONS

• A relevant doctoral degree 
• Evidence of research outputs and supervision

• Teaching Mathematics and Mathematical Literacy in the IP and Foundation Phase departments
• Curriculum development and other learning materials
• Supervising students on teaching practice
• Research and involvement in research activities (publications and supervision)

• Networking with schools and other networks
• Community engagement
• Coaching and mentoring of students and staff
• Learner focus and learner support in multilingual classrooms
• Meticulous planning and organizing skills
• Ability to align yourself to hybrid teaching and learning models (face-to-face and on-line learning)
• Perform other ad hoc functions as may be assigned by the head of department
