Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• A Master’s degree in Media Studies/Communication or closest related qualification such as Film, Photography, Journalism etc. that has an underpinning of Communication theory.
• At least two (2) years’ relevant teaching experience in Higher Education

Recommendations:

• Substantive knowledge of the theory of Communication Science and Media Studies
• Substantive experience of the standards and practices in the Media and Communications industry.

Key Performance Areas / Principal Accountabilities

• Teach and assess Media Leadership, Media Innovation Management, Managing Communication Strategy, Positioning Organisational Relationships, Communication and Media Practice and/or Research Methodology
• Participate in curriculum development
• Develop and Co-ordinate project-based learning in the programme and across the Media Department
• Perform appropriate academic and administrative duties (including the effective Management of Marks 
• Administration) Participate in the Quality Assurance activities of the Department
• Participate in research
• Contribute to community initiatives by integrating community interventions into curriculum.
• Develop and maintain linkages with industry and professional bodies on co-operative education, new techniques/technologies, and research projects
• Take the lead in managing marketing and recruitment activities
• Develop partnerships with other institution in higher education and industry for the purposes of knowledge interchange and collaboration on project based learning and research
•  Perform other functions as may be assigned by the Head of Department
