    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer: Psychology

    Duties and responsibilities:

    •  Contribute towards creating a strong academic identity for the Department of Psychology on the Qwaqwa Campus.
    •  Teach and assess undergraduate and postgraduate modules in Psychology.
    •  Provide study guidance and supervision to undergraduate and postgraduate students.
    •  Initiate the conduct high-level research and sustain quality research outputs.
    •  Active participation and involvement in applicable UFS and Faculty management structures.
    •  Contribute to building an effective team of scholars.
    •  Contribute to programme development and curriculum review within Department and Faculty.
    •  Participate in community engagement initiatives.
    •  Recruit students for postgraduate studies.
    •  Perform organisational and administrative duties.

    Inherent Job Requirements:

    Lecturer:

    •  A PhD degree on NQF Level 10 in Psychology (for a permanent appointment). 
    • OR
    •  A master’s degree on NQF Level 9 in Psychology (contract appointment: 5 years during which a PhD on NQF Level 10 in Psychology must be obtained to be converted into a permanent position). 
    •  Registration as Clinical/ Counselling/ Educational/ Research Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
    •  Proven experience in the delivery of poster or oral presentations at conferences or equivalent activities.
    •  Provide evidence of manuscripts produced that have the potential to be converted or submitted for publication in accredited journals. 
    •  A good academic record.

    Senior Lecturer:

    •  A PhD degree on NQF Level 10 in Psychology.
    •  Minimum three (3) years’ registration as Clinical-/ Counselling-/ Educational-/ Research Psychologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
    •  Proven experience in the presentation of papers/posters at national scholarly conferences.
    •  Proven national recognition for specialist expertise and research in a specific area of scholarship. 
    •  An NRF rating or demonstrate potential for obtaining an NRF rating. 
    •  Proven experience in supervision of graduated masters’ students.
    •  Proven research record of relevant publications in national and international accredited journals. 
    •  Proven experience of service as an active member of a national or international scholarly society or committee or agency concerned with research at higher-education levels.
    •  Proven academic work experience in the higher education sector.

    Recommendations

    Lecturer:

    •  Interest/ expertise in at least two of the following fields
    •  Social Psychology
    •  Research
    •  Personality Psychology
    •  Registration for Doctoral degree in Psychology (applicants should attach official proof of registration towards a PhD).

    Senior Lecturer:

    •  Lecturing experience in Psychology at a tertiary institution.
    •  The ability to work with and learn more about digitalised academic platforms.
