2-3 years’ experience in a library environment, at least 1-2 years law library experience, including supervisory experience.
A paralegal qualification would be advantageous.
Fully conversant with all aspects of librarianship, in particular the principles of collection development, reference work, information retrieval and bibliographic knowledge
Extensive knowledge of professional library techniques, systems and procedures.

Key Performance Areas
Co-ordinates and controls activities, procedures and outcomes associated with the provision of a comprehensive legal resource centre and information service within Legal Services
Ensure the implementation and maintenance of procedures and systems associated with the efficient and effective running of the law library
Ensure the law library is effectively managed.
Supervise, train and develop law library staff
Assist staff with straightforward legal research queries using online resources
Provide access to the knowledge management databank e.g. Juta Stat, Sabinet LexisNexis
Maintain the electronic database of user details and accessing specific fields to elicit information on overdue books and proceeding with notification and execution of specific recovery sequences
Catalogue and index new materials (periodicals, audiovisuals,books) using specific classification systems based on established library information management principles
Conduct stock counts of library material and/ or removing out-dated books from shelves and updating electronic databases.
