Linux Systems Engineer at Super Group

About the Job

• Our engineering team is responsible to maintain mission-critical business systems for Super Group. We manage infrastructure and services for a number of business units and subsidiaries serving the supply chain, distribution, mobility and motor vehicle dealerships industries.
• Ideally you will be a specialist in the Linux operating systems components employed across our group if businesses. Owing to our diverse technology stack, it would be a major advantage if you possess further skills in Microsoft server configuration and administration. To this end, your work will involve taking responsibility for the operational health of support, key operational and strategic IT systems and
• infrastructure. Our Linux engineer is involved in planning, organising, controlling, and managing all relevant Group IT platforms and for participating in the implementation of a Group-wide IT infrastructure strategy.

ABOUT THE CANDIDATE

• Our ideal candidate will have qualifications and experience in the following fields:

 QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:

•  Red Hat Certified Engineer

Preferred:

•  Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)
•  LPIC elective/s or CompTIA certification in relevant Linux systems management

Other/ beneficial:

•  Computer science degree/diploma
•  Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
•  Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) in Exam 70-646

In-service certification:

•  Within one month of employment, receive training on Jira (service management system)
•  Within six months of employment, obtain the ITIL Foundations certificate
•  Within six months of employment, obtain the Dell Online Self-Dispatch

PowerEdge Services certificate
EXPERIENCE

•  A minimum of five (5) years’ experience supporting Linux systems
•  Practical experience in the development of bash and awk scripts for Unix systems

 SKILLS

•  High level of computer literacy
•  Effective Internet/online research skills
•  Good written and verbal communication skills (including friendly, respectful and cordial telephone etiquette)
•  Demonstrably strong programming logic
•  Business writing, meticulous note-taking skills

 PRACTICAL REQUIREMENTS

•  Should be adaptable and must be able to work under pressure.
•  Occasional travel, for support, training or audits, including business trips and air-travel.
•  On a rotation/standby basis, provide timeous and friendly after-hours first responder standby support.
