Job Description

Purpose of the role

• The role holder ensures adequate coverage of shift, showing absolute support for colleagues as well as good team spirit.
• The individual must have a positive impact on Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale in the Department.
• To process, bottle, label, and Package products while ensuring overall line performance (efficiency) targets are met to achieve the supply strategy.

Qualifications

Entry level requirements – skills and experience

Minimum

• Matric/N4
• First Line Maintenance Skills Programme
• Work experience in manufacturing process

Key Accountabilities

• The Machine Operator works on the Packaging Line either with the Technical Operator operating machines within a defined Process Area or he/she works alone operating non-key machines such as the Depalletiser and Palletiser machines.
• A Process Area comprises of key equipment and/or processes on the Packaging Line covering areas such as Product Processing & Filling & Labeling and Product Packing.
• The Machine Operator operates equipment/machines, controls the process in line with Diageo operating standards, implements continuous improvement initiatives, generates, and maintains all processing records including QC checks and downtime records. Shift Handovers are performed.
• The Machine Operator participates in problem solving.
• The Machine Operator performs Autonomous Maintenance, Levels 1-4
• Cleaning, scrubbing, sterilizing
• Inspection during cleaning
• Lubricate equipment as per maintenance schedules
• Defects identified, and Quick Fix Routines applied
• The Machine Operator applies to the Teamwork Best Practice Pillar practices.
• The Machine Operator maintains a safe and healthy work environment, and applies the 5 S Best Practice pillar
• The Machine Operator reports to the Team Leader.
