    Machine Specialist - Mechanical

    Main Purpose of Job

    • The role of the Mechanical Machine Specialist is to provide mechanical engineering expertise, guidance and direction to ensure asset reliability and efficiency.

    Driving optimal asset performance safely.

    Main Responsibilities

    EHS

    • Ensure plant assets, are maintained in a “Safe to operate” condition at all times while promoting all aspects of safe working practices to meet all safety and housekeeping objectives.
    • Always maintain 5S housekeeping principles in the department, including all equipment and surrounds. 
    • Ensure all unused items are removed from the operating area and stored correctly. 

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Support production teams by optimising Engineering systems and equipment, in order to achieve optimum plant and process reliability.
    • Develop and complete action plans and maintenance schedules in order to solve problems thereby minimizing engineering delay.
    • Proactively track and monitor mechanical equipment through their life cycle and plan pro-actively to replace/upgrade/improve reliability where required. (Risk profile)
    • Be involved in new installations. Provide project support from design to check-out and commissioning stages.
    • Continuously improve on plant and equipment and Identify improvement opportunities on assets to increase their performance and capability
    • Continuously improve standards and systems, deliver sustainable solutions, and partake in problem solving sessions.
    • Ensure all documentation, including SRV, pressure vessels and Yankee data are recorded as per standard.
    • Support shift teams on maintenance activities on mechanical equipment and installation.
    • To ensure that mechanical spares are available and ready for use when required.
    • Follow KC P2P process in terms of sourcing new equipment, itemising, repairable item process and write-offs.
    • Ensure compliance to statutory, regulatory and KC requirements relevant to the role.
    • Adherence to Mill MOC and sMOC processes.

    Qualifications

    • N6/National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Relevant Mechanical qualification with 5 years Proven Experience.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in complex manufacturing plant and equipment maintenance.
    • Preferably experience in Pulp and Paper industry
    • Process and Maintenance experience in the FMCG environment.
    • Computer Literate, SAP PM
    • Own transport (for standby duties)
