Management Accountant (Reporting: Branch, Binder, Projects) - Parktown at Hollard Insurance

Role Objective:

To compile, analyze and report on management accounts to various stakeholders e.g. Finance Business Partners, Finance Heads, Divisional CFO, General Managers, Auditors and External Partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for posting monthly journals
• Timely preparation of management accounts
• Manage the budget and forecasting process
• Timely preparation of balance sheet and income statement reconciliations
• Analyze and provide commentary on monthly results
• Prepare and analyze monthly expense variance reports
• Review monthly cashbook reconciliations
• Assist with the annual audit process i.e. external/internal auditors
• Review and release of online banking payments
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Assist with key projects i.e. IFRS 17, Audit Remediation, Process automation etc
• Assist with day-to-day activities of the finance reporting function
• Assist with defined ad hoc projects according to business needs

Required Knowledge and Experience    

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience within the Financial Services industry (including articles)
• 1 - 2 years post articles experience in a commercial environment
• Insurance accounting would be advantageous
• PC literate (Advanced MS Office knowledge)
• Technical accounting, financial and management accounting
• Knowledge of accounting packages, systems and controls and their integration into the accounting system (Great Plains experience would be an advantage)
• Financial and management accounting (IFRS)
• Knowledge of systems and controls, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
• Digital literacy
