Management Accountant at The Special Investigating Unit

Main purpose:

•  To coordinate the budgeting process, prepare and monitor the actual vs budget on a provincial level. Coordinate the compilation of the Estimates of National Expenditure monthly and quarterly reporting to Treasury and Department of Justice. Input into the analysis of financial information to allow organisation to make well-informed decisions to ensure financial sustainability, in accordance with PFMA principles (Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Economic Use of Resources).

Minimum qualification and experience:

• B Degree in Management Accounting or Financial Accounting (NQF 7).  Five years’ experience in management accounting or financial management, of which two years’ is at a supervisory/management level.

Key performance areas (Include but not limited to):

• Budget Process Management. Monthly Management Accounts. Statutory Monthly and Quarterly Financial Reporting. Financial Analysis, Provincial Financial Oversight and Support to Central Programme Management Office. Internal Financial Controls and Staff Management.

Technical skills:

• Analytical. Communication. Report writing. Time Management. Interpersonal. Planning and organising. Coaching and mentoring.
• Required knowledge (include but not limited to): Sound knowledge of financial legislation and regulations governing the public sector (i.e. PFMA, Treasury Regulations). Sound knowledge of IFRS and GRAP statements. Sound knowledge of Activity Based Costing and other costing methodologies. Sound knowledge of accounting systems.
