We at RCL FOODS are currently recruiting for a Manager: Packing & Premix to be based in Pretoria West and reporting into the Manufacturing Executive. The Manager: Packing & Premix will be responsible for managing production according to a prescribed packing plan, maintenance and resource planning, direct and co-ordinate the activities of the packaging process within prescribed quality and safety standards. Oversee the production activities of the Old Premix plant as well as the new coatings plant of Project Gold Dust.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage production: pack according to production/demand plan and ensure material supply.
• Low cost production: low cost operations and minimize finish product & raw materials waste.
• Management of personnel in terms of, development, recruitment and selection, overtime, leave, man scheduling and utilisation.
• Manage maintenance and availability of packing machines and equipment to ensure that the right commodities are packed at the right time as per prescribed S&OP requirement.
• Work with outsourced suppliers to ensure product quality, delivery and cost is maintained
• Waste control: measure waste materials and mitigate wasteful practices of materials.
• Weight control: Ensure that weights are maintained within the prescribed limits and deviations managed and recorded.
• Root cause analysis initiated to improve poor performing processes.
• Manage packing management systems i.e. integrated management system, material supply, planning and maintenance scheduling.
• Manage bulk finish product supply: managing take off and communicating with the milling team.
• Manage plant and equipment: capacity, cost of ownership and plant performance
• Project management, planning and implementation.
• Ensure compliance to ISO9001, FSSC 22 000, Safety, housekeeping and hygiene standards

Requirements

• Completed Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or Production Management qualification
• Previous management experience in an automated FAWEMA packing environment will be an advantage
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the industrial, production, operations environment in a Management role
